Portrait: Life and Its Imperfections

Portrait: Life and Its Imperfections

Lately, I’ve been drawing a series of what I like to call Portrait. Which it is not to state the obvious, but my take on life and its imperfection. I’ve uploaded a few of these drawings to my Instagram or Facebook page; if you haven’t seen them already.

A female with a book covering have of her face. Her eyes looks up at a bird on her head trying to pluck her hair.     A woman sitting and her eyes looking to her right at the spider shooting down.

Life is Never Perfect

It is a fact that no one is perfect. And, the “perfect” people that we know, have their own imperfections. In my opinion, life is a series of trials and errors. We go through life wanting everything to be sweet, beautiful and happy. But most of the time, it is awkward and unexpected. Which makes us frustrated, embarrass or angry because it ruins that perfect moment. Most of the time, our difficulties or hardship are not so drastic or melodramatic. It wouldn’t even be considered a storyline for a movie. It is the little things that pop-up that usually gets us all riled up and leave us fuming or depressed for hours.

Not Perfect, But it Never is

That is why I’ve created Portrait which the word by definition (figuratively speaking) is an idealistic view of ourselves and added an uninvited “guest.” I believe life is better when we know it is not perfect. It helps us to grow, to understand and to connect. It is okay when things are not perfect. Everyone has their unpleasant moments. It is to say: You are definitely not alone.
