Parks in NYC During Spring Time
One of my favorite things to do during the spring time is to visit parks in NYC. Spring is also one of my favorite season of the year. To me, during the spring, every day seems wonderful, full of color and life. And all I want to do is go out into the sunlight and stay outside for as long as I can. I love the spring season because the flowers are blooming, the weather is warm with a slight breeze and a hint of the summer to come. The hours in a day seems longer as the sun set later and later.
It is a great relief from the winter, where all I want to do is to stay home and keep myself warm. I rejoice at stuffing away my winter coats, boots, and sweaters that I’ve worn over and over again with dread because of the freezing winter that doesn’t seem to want to leave.
Central Park in the Spring
I alway make sure that I visit the parks around my area or in Manhattan, like Central Park. I’ve been there many occasions but each time I go it always feels like it’s the first time. It is the one place I don’t mind getting lost in. It is the one place that my directionally challenged person is not a hider but a blessing; I never know where I will end up and what secret corner of the park I may find myself in.
While I am not roaming around absentmindedly enjoying the picturesque scenery of blossoming trees, vibrant flowers, and luscious greenery, I like to visit certain spots in the park. Some of my favorite spots to go to are Bethesda Terrace & Fountain, Belvedere Castle, the ramble and the lake.
If this is your first time visiting Central Park and you don’t know where to start, or if you want to get more out of what the park has to offer, a tour is a great way to go. There are free tours around the park that you can take. It is a great way to learn about the history of the park or to learn more about your favorite areas within the park. These tours are great for everyone. They even have one where you can enjoy it with your canine (or feline) family member.
Other Parks in NYC
There are other parks in the NYC, though not as big as Central Park, that I enjoy visiting. The three that I am familiar with are Madison Square Park, Battery Park, and Bryant Park.
Madison Square Park, for those who are not familiar with NYC, is situated between 23rd Street and 26th Street. It is where the first Shak Shack was opened and it is common to see sculptural displays around the park.
Bryant Park is located between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Avenues. If you like to play outside, there are plenty of activities to enjoy. The park has a putting green, kubb, Pétanque, ping pong, chess, backgammon, carousel, reading room and much more throughout the seasons.
Battery Park, located in lower Manhattan on State Street and Battery Place. The park has a Seaglass carousel, Perennial Gardens, Urban Farm, Castle Clinton. This is also where you can get tickets to visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Here are other parks in NYC that you might want to visit:
Washington Square Park
High Line
Fort Washington Park
Morningside Park
Flushing Meadows Corona Park
Prospect Park
Van Cortlandt Park
And the list goes on…
There are also 29 hidden parks in New York City that you might find interesting. There are three from the list that I am definitely going and visit: Samuel Paley Park, Socrates Sculpture Park, and Greenacre Park.
